New York University and the Gallatin School of Individualized Study have long-standing traditions of bestowing awards at the Graduation ceremonies to students and faculty who are nominated by members of the community. Below are descriptions of the awards that are given. The student and faculty speakers are also selected from candidates who are nominated. Students, faculty, and the Gallatin administration may submit nominations for awardees and speakers online.
Note: The Gallatin Dean's Distinguished Teaching Award has been established to recognize faculty who have contributed significantly to the intellectual life of the Gallatin School through their teaching. For more information please contact Jessica Lee, Office Manager, Dean's Office, at jal507@nyu.edu.
