Antonio Lauria-Perricelli's teaching and research interests include power, class, Culture, state, empire, everyday life, militarism, and the Caribbean and Latin America. He has taught on the graduate faculty at The New School for Social Research, at the University of Puerto Rico, and at Washington University. His administrative and research roles have included serving as director for The City University of New York and University of Puerto Rico's Academic Exchange Program, as consultant in educational planning and social research for the Department of Education in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and as general secretary for the Puerto Rico Ecumenical Institute for Social Action. He has written on Puerto Rican society, Culture, and "history; nations and nationalism; social planning; and migration and empire.
