David Schalkwyk obtained his DPhil at the University of York in England and was a Professor of English and Deputy Dean in the Humanities Faculty at the University of Cape Town, South Africa until his move to the USA in 2008. For the past four years he has been Director of Research at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington D.C. and editor of the Shakespeare Quarterly . His most recent book is Hamlet’s Dreams: The Robben Island Shakespeare , published in 2013 by the Arden Shakespeare. He is currently working on a monograph on love in Shakespeare.
