Polytechnic Course Registration

Gallatin students should follow the instructions below to register for a fall or spring course at Poly. Questions about the registration process for Poly courses can be directed to Gallatin's Office of Student Services.

Students who plan to use Poly courses to fulfill specific Gallatin requirements should first consult with their Gallatin adviser.

a. Consult the NYU-Poly Class Schedule for semester course offerings, schedules and locations.

b. View course descriptions and pre/co-requisites in the NYU-Poly Academic Catalog.

c. See the Poly Guide and Discipline Codes in order to become familiar with NYU-Poly-specific course labeling.

If a course has pre/co-requisites, students will need to obtain permission from the NYU-Poly professor of the course before enrollment. Students should email the professor outlining all prerequisite coursework in order to obtain permission. Students can find professors’ email via the NYU-Poly Directory (http://www.poly.edu/directory/).

For further assistance, contact one of the offices at Poly below:
Undergraduate - Office of Undergraduate Academics
Graduate - Professor Jose Ulerio

Collect and retain any written permissions you receive from your Poly professors; you will be asked to submit these emails or letters.

Enter the Poly courses on the form and indicate that the courses are at Poly. After submitting your Plan of Study form, your adviser will forward it to Gallatin’s Office of Student Services to clear you for registration on Albert.

The Polytechnic Institute of NYU Registration form will be forwarded to the Gallatin Office of Student Services. If you have received written permission from the insturctor of the course, please forward that note to the Gallatin Office of Student Services after completing the Polytechnic Institute of NYU Registration form.

Once your adviser approves your Plan of Study, the Gallatin Office of Student Services will submit your Polytechnic Institute of NYU Registration form to Poly for processing.

Once you are approved to take the course by Poly, you will be registered by the University Registrar. You will not be able to register for a Poly course on Albert. The University Registrar’s office will add a placeholder course to your Gallatin schedule and transcript. This placeholder course will generate fees toward your tuition bill at NYU/Gallatin. You will pay NYU/Gallatin for the Poly course.

The University Registrar’s office will notify you of your registration and will provide you with your Poly email and ID number, which you will use to access Poly’s Blackboard system (my.poly.edu) and Poly’s PeopleSoft system (Poly's version of Albert).

After grades have been reported at Poly, your Gallatin transcript will be updated by the University Registrar’s office. The placeholder course will be replaced with the Poly course title and your credits and grades will be entered on your transcript. Your grade will factor into your GPA.
