Community Learning Initiative

Jack Tchen

Gallatin’s Community Learning Initiative (CLI) offers courses that bridge the gap between the classroom and the community by offering students the opportunity to engage in a variety of action-study projects based in New York City. Courses combine academic readings and theory based discussions with practical work in grassroots community organizations, social agencies, and educational institutions.  Faculty work closely with students and community organizations to address real-world problems and devise and implement practical solutions. Each year the CLI program offers a number of events that showcase student accomplishments and focus on current issues.
