The Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts was transformed on February 20, with disco balls, a DJ and an elevated runway, for Musicouture: The Gallatin Fashion Show 2013, which explored the creative cross-pollination between fashion and music. The nine participating designers -- all Gallatin students or alumni --  created lines that played with the way music and fashion have been intertwined, both historically and today. The show’s executive producers were, once again, Gallatin staff members Rachel Plutzer and Theresa Anderson, and Dhara Vyas was the associate producer. The student and alumni designers included Priya Bhikha, Alex Chernow, Kate Goldwater, Judy Harinarain, Victoria Holbrook, Benjamin Klemes, Tamara Leacock, Thulasi Sivalingam and Rachel Wang. The designs ranged from feminine, ballet-inspired dresses to a whimsical line that references American rock and roll. Gallatin student Colby Jordan introduced the show and moderated an introductory red carpet chat with Christine Beauchamp, Gallatin’s first Fashion and Business Chair, and music journalist Loraine Boyle. DJ  Liza St. John provided the music for the full house, and it all added up to an elegant, adventurous and fun evening.
