Jewish Studies Grant

The Gallatin Jewish Studies Grant was created to provide funding to expand academic and artistic exploration in the field of Jewish Studies through the support of research and other intellectual projects, including but not limited to the following:

  • field work and other direct forms of inquiry;
  • attendance at relevant conferences, workshops and other events;
  • sabbaticals focused on Jewish issues;
  • and collaborations with other organizations such as the Bronfman Center for Jewish Life, the Goldstein-Goren Center for American Jewish History, and the Skirball Department of Jewish Studies.

In keeping with Gallatin’s educational philosophy, these projects should transcend traditional and professional boundaries. The size of the grants will be modest and will range from $500-$1,500. Awards are made on a reimbursement basis; students who have been approved for funding must submit proof of expenditures and request reimbursement.

Eligibility

Grants from the Jewish studies fund will be open to full-time or part-time members of the Gallatin faculty as well as to matriculated Gallatin undergraduate and graduate students.

Duration

The grant work should be completed in the semester following the awarding of the grant.
