Set designer Salvatore Tagliarino has designed productions for the Houston Grand Opera, New Jersey Opera, Nevada Opera Association, and the New York Lyric Opera. As part of Alvin Ailey’s tribute to Duke Ellington, Tagliarino designed the sets and costumes. He has designed costumes for the Larry Richardson Dance Co., and has worked with Rouben Ter-Arutunian on productions for the New York City Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet. He has also designed productions for several Broadway, Las Vegas, and international shows, including Lou Rawls, Natalie Cole, Neil Diamond, and Demis Roussos. He designed the sets for Alan King and Helen Reddy’s Home Box Office specials, the Public Broadcasting System’s productions of Dance in America, CBS Cable, and Outdoor Life Channel and traveling shows for Fleetwood Mac, Ben Vereen, Liza Minnelli and Frank Sinatra. He has also designed numerous commercials and industrial shows. His Off-Broadway designs have been seen at the Manhattan Theatre Club, the Westbeth Theatre, New York Shakespeare Festival, and regional theaters such as the Palm Beach Repertory Theater, Bristol Riverside Theater, Woodstock Shakespeare Festival, and Shakespeare on the Sound.  He studied and interned with designers Lloyd Burlingame, Fred Volpel, Oliver Smith, Wolfgang Wagner, and Josef Svoboda. He was been on the faculty of the Design Department of the Tisch School of the Arts for the last 40 years until his retirement in August 2011. He is currently a member of the New York Chapter, of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. In 2016, Tagliarino was inducted into the Silver Circle of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, an honor that celebrates individuals who have devoted 25 or more years to the television industry.
