Barbara Jones is an executive editor at Henry Holt & Company, where she acquires and edits books of fiction, memoir and narrative nonfiction. Previously, she was editorial director of Hyperion Books and of Voice, an imprint of Hyperion Books. Before that, she was a magazine editor for almost 20 years. She has edited books by Lauren Groff, Deborah Copaken Kogan, Chitra Divakaruni, Caitlin Shetterly, Kelly Corrigan and many others. Her Henry Holt authors include Paul Auster, Sebastian Faulks, Christa Parravani, and Thea Goodman. As a magazine editor at Grand Street, Harper’s Magazine, Vogue, More and elsewhere, she edited Christopher Hitchens, Steven Millhauser, James Salter, Jennifer Egan, Ann Patchett, Lorrie Moore, Amy Wilentz, Louise Erdrich, Francine Prose, Liz Gilbert and many others. In addition to Gallatin, she has taught at Yale College and Connecticut College, and her writings have been published in magazines, newspapers and books, including Salon, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Elle, Marie Claire, the Paris Review, Grand Street and in anthologies from Farrar, Straus and Giroux and Riverhead books.
