In the fall of 2012, with an award from the Guess Foundation, Gallatin established the Guess Distinguished Professorship in Fashion and Fashion Business. Each fall, a prominent figure from the fashion world joins the Gallatin faculty to teach students to fuse the creative and business sides of the industry. During the fall of 2014, Gallatin welcomes to campus top fashion executive, NYU alumna, and Guess Distinguished Visiting Professorship in Fashion and Fashion Business Audrey Nizen. Along with Professor Lise Friedman, Nizen will teach the Practicum in Fashion Business, offering an examination of the fashion industry’s need to balance the conflicting demands of specialization and globalization. Nizen comes to Gallatin having held senior-level positions with some of the world’s most recognized retailers and brands, including Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, and Sasson Jeans. In the spring semester, Nizen be joined by Martha Olson, who brings to the School her experience leading of the world’s most recognized and iconic global brands, including Calvin Klein Underwear, Speedo, Ralph Lauren Intimates, and Warner’s. The two will share the title of Guess Distinguished Visiting Professorship in Fashion and Fashion Business. Olson and Professor Laurie Woodard will co-teach the spring Practicum in Fashion Business, and Nizen will teach a second Practicum in Fashion Business course with Professor Friedman. Gallatin is pleased to welcome such luminaries from the world of fashion to our classrooms.
