M.A. '10

Cornelius Jones studied dramatic writing and activism at Gallatin, focusing on the use of writing and performance as a means to educate people about such issues as sexuality, masculinity and HIV/AIDS as it relates to black gay men and black men in general. His research attempts to illuminate how artistic acts of intervention by black gay male artists are addressing issues of masculinity and social perceptions of black homosexuality. He also explored the way black gay male artists are liberating themselves from personal and societal constructs through their art.
