Tamara Davidson's concentration at Gallatin was “Hip-Hop as Postcolonial Mythology.” She cites as particularly engaging a tutorial she took with Marcella Runell Hall, the social justice and education scholar and Hip-Hop pedagogy expert who teaches at Gallatin, in which students created their own lesson plans using the tenets of Hip-Hop pedagogy. “Gallatin fuels creativity!” says Davidson, adding, “I feel so grateful to have the opportunity to attend an institution that truly honors the creativity and individuality within education.” Davidson was a Mellon-Humanities Fellow at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture; she was a member of the Dean’s Honor Society, which traveled to Greece and to Dublin.
