Do you have a passion for writing? Are you an aspiring author? Are you looking to meet other writing professionals? Then join us for an evening showcasing the literary works of three talented Gallatin alumni authors. Each writer will read an excerpt from his or her published work and participate in a Q&A with the audience. The event will conclude with a networking reception, providing attendees with an opportunity to enjoy some wine and hors d’oeuvres and connect with fellow writing professionals.

David D. Burstein (BA ’12)
David, 24, is a writer, filmmaker and passionate believer in the Millennial generation. In 2006, he founded Generation18, a leading nonpartisan youth voter engagement organization that grew out of the 2007 documentary film 18 in '08, which David directed and produced. He is a frequent speaker and commentator on millennials, social innovation and politics. He has appeared on CNN, FOX News, NPR, ABC Evening News and C-SPAN, and has been featured in The New York Times, USA Today, The Boston Globe and more.
David will be reading from his newest book, Fast Future: How the Millennial Generation is Shaping Our World, an inside look at how the Millennial generation is changing business, technology, politics and culture.

Maya Rodale (BA ’04)
Maya began reading romance novels in college at her mother’s insistence. She is now the author of numerous popular historical romance novels. A champion of the romance genre and its readers, she is also the author of the non-fiction book Dangerous Books for Girls: The Bad Reputation of Romance Novels, Explained and a co-founder of Lady Jane’s Salon, a national reading series devoted to romantic fiction. Francesco Sedita (BA ’95, MA ’00)
Francesco is the author of several books for young readers, including the Miss Popularity series and Spaceheads: SPHDZ Book #1! He is also president and publisher of two children’s imprints at the Penguin Young Readers Group. Highlights of his publishing career include working with such notable authors as Arthur Laurents, Anne Rice and Michael Crichton. Francesco developed and oversaw the marketing and creative campaign for the final book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the launch of which broke every sales record in the publishing industry.
Francesco has worked with the board of 826NYC, Dave Eggers’ nonprofit organization, which is dedicated to helping children develop their writing skills. He also wrote and directed interstitials that have appeared on NBC Saturday Morning, Telemundo and Qubo, aimed at helping children discover the joys of reading.
