Study Away

Below are the application deadlines for the various study away opportunities for Gallatin students. 

Gallatin Travel Courses 

Gallatin offers small, intensive, discussion-based seminars led by Gallatin faculty away from NYU's Washington Square campus. Interested students are encouraged to apply early, as programs may fill before the deadline.

Summer  December 1  Open to NYU and non-NYU students. If space remains, applications will also be reviewed as follows: Round 2: Feb. 1 (priority for Gallatin Dean's Scholarship), Round 3: March 1.
Spring  October 1 Open to NYU students only. Students attend a spring semester course at NYU's Washington Square campus and travel to a location related to the course topic during Spring Break.
January Term  TBA Open to NYU students only. Courses are not always offered during Janaury term; please visit Gallatin's travel courses website for specific course offerings.

NYU Global Sites

Gallatin undergraduates who are interested in studying at NYU global academic centers may apply online through Albert, submitting a short statement of purpose. No recommndation letter is required.

**Students are highly encouraged to apply by the priority deadlines, as many sites will fill by these dates. Students can apply after these dates, but the decision may be delayed and fewer spots may be available.

Exchange Programs

Gallatin students may study for a semester or academic year at select partner universities in the US and abroad. NYU exchange students remain matriculated at NYU and earn NYU credit for their course work.

NYU International Exchange Program

Gallatin students may apply online through Albert to study at distinguished research universities abroad. Letters of recommendation and adviser approval are required.

**Students considering Spring exchange programs are highly encouraged to apply by the priority deadline.


Domestic Exchange Program

Gallatin undergraduates may apply online to study during the spring of sophomore or junior year at select top-rated historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-serving institutions (HSIs). Letters of recommendation are required.

Spring  Early October

Non-NYU Study Abroad 

Gallatin undergraduates may apply to study abroad outside the NYU global network. Students must complete the Gallatin international external study application, which is subject to approval by their adviser and Gallatin Global Programs. Students must also apply separately to the external program (deadlines vary).

**Students who meet the priority deadline will receive a decision within 10 business days of submission. Students who apply after these dates may experience a delay in obtaining a decision.
