Possible Timeline for Completing BA-MPA Dual Degree (full-time enrollment):

Year 1 Student completes Gallatin First-Year Program.
Year 2 Student speaks with an adviser about participation in the BA-MPA dual degree. At the end of the sophomore year, the student completes the dual degree pre-application.
Year 3

Students begin taking MPA required courses. You can complete up to 21 credits toward the 45 credit graduate degree as an undergraduate student.

Year 4 

Students continue taking the potential 21 graduate credits and all degree requirements for the Gallatin BA. Complete the Wagner MPA graduate application by the priority deadline at the end of the fall semester.

Deferral

(If necessary)

 

The graduate admissions team may accept you into the MPA program with the requirement that you defer 1 year to gain full-time professional experience in a public service field.

You may also choose to defer your enrollment for up to 2 years in order to gain additional experience.

Summer (prior to Year 1 at Wagner) Complete Wagner prerequisites for Capstone (if necessary) 

Wagner 

Year 1 (- 5)

Students can complete the Wagner degree full-time or part-time

 

Students enroll as MPA graduate students.

Students that completed all capstone prerequisites during undergrad (21 credits) can complete the program in one full-time year. 

Students not eligible for capstone can complete in MPA in two years. 

Students can take up to 5 years to complete the remaining MPA courses part-time.
