Financing Your Education

Financing a graduate degree program can be challenging for many students.  When determining your M.A. program expenses, you should consider the cost of tuition, fees, books, meals, supplies, housing and commutation.

NYU Financial Aid

If you believe you will need financial assistance to enable you to attend NYU Gallatin, we strongly encourage you to apply for financial aid. You must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form in order to be considered for need-based aid at NYU.  It is recommended you submit the FAFSA by March 15th for fall admission.

Please note that no special applications are required for NYU and Gallatin merit scholarships. All qualified applicants are automatically considered.

Your decision to apply for financial aid will have no bearing on the admissions decision, and many Gallatin students receive some form of financial aid.  To learn more, or to apply for financial aid, see Gallatin's Financial Aid Information.

Other Sources of Aid

We also strongly suggest that students with financial need explore scholarship funding from outside organizations.  There are many free scholarship search services that can assist you.  See “Scholarship Search Services” for more information.  You should never pay for scholarship search services—the free resources available are extensive.
