MA Candidate - International Relations and Music Diplomacy
A classically trained soprano from Northern Virginia, Alicia's research is centered upon the analysis of cultural diplomacy and its numerous applications through music. She is interested in identifying for musicians a contemporary method that will facilitate intergroup understanding and which will transcend national and social boundaries. Her artistic thesis will combine audio and visual elements as an articulation of what she has termed as “grassroots cultural diplomacy."
Alicia received her undergraduate degree with distinction in vocal performance from the University of Maryland at College Park and was a 2015 finalist in the National Council of Negro Women’s Voice Competition. She is a voice student of Harolyn Blackwell and Gallatin School advisee of Judith Sloan.
