Bryan Pirolli is a professional journalist and writer focused on storytelling in a travel context. A long-time Paris correspondent for publications like CNN, Time Out, and Expedia, he has also written extensively on cuisine, innovation, and environmental issues from London, Naples, and Beijing. Storytelling about places and the people in them form the basis of his professional writing. As an author, he has worked on several European and North American travel guides, including the Like a Local series (DK Eyewitness 2021). He actively consults and contributes to a destination marketing agency, bringing his love of travel and storytelling to clients around the world, from Barbados to Vienna.   As an academic, Pirolli’s research into travel media appears in several peer-reviewed journals, taking a critical look at how professional travel journalism adapts to ever-present digital evolutions. He authored Travel Journalism: Informing Tourists in the Digital Age (Routledge, 2018), bringing together his academic and professional experiences. Pirolli has taught media and journalism studies in Paris at the Sorbonne Nouvelle and has been a lecturer at both London College of Communication and Birkbeck College, University of London. More recently, he has taught French language and media studies at NYU’s College of Arts and Sciences, LIM College, and Columbia University.
