MA Candidate - Candidate Dramatic Writing, Theatre, and Performance Studies
José is a writer and performer who hails from Jalisco, Mexico. He moved to New York City to attend Gallatin and pursue studies in film, theater, and performance. His passion for storytelling and human rights placed him on a quest to support and write stories as a practice of freedom; his love for writing and performing is centered on growing the visibility of bodies that have been excluded from the stage. José is developing an artistic thesis at Gallatin, a fantasy/drama screenplay with topics regarding colonization, homosexuality, and genocide that looks at how art and politics are intertwined.
