Film Screening: After Now
After Now (2017), a documentary short film by Raechel Bosch and Thuy Linh Tu made in collaboration with NYU’s Prison Education Program, follows Earl, Joshua, and Carlos as they navigate life after prison. Weaving intimate portraits of their work, family, and neighborhoods in New York City, the film walks us through Earl's first day out of prison; captures Carlos's relationship with his wife and three sons, after nearly 13 years away; and follows Joshua as he returns to work and school, and moves forward from his past. After Now captures the joys and challenges of moving from prison to community, and the ways that incarceration touches us all, while following participants for a one-year cycle.
Presented as a part of Gallatin’s Black History Month programming.
