Stage Reading: The People Before the Park by Keith Josef Adkins
The People Before the Park by Keith Josef Adkins tells the story of the acquisition of Seneca Village, a community founded by free Black people, in the heart of Manhattan that would later become Central Park. Adkins explores gentrification in its earliest form, interracial relationships, and the history of New York City. This is a staged reading that will be followed by a talk back between Adkins and Kamau Ware (Black Gotham Experience).
