Sophisticated Giant - Book Discussion with Brent Edwards, C. Daniel Dawson, and author Maxine Gordon

Sophisticated Giant: The Life and Legacy of Dexter Gordon considers the influence of legendary tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon (1923–1990), one of the major innovators of modern jazz. A mix of biography, history, and memoir, Gordon’s wife Maxine Gordon has completed the book that her late husband began. This panel discussion, moderated by NYU Gallatin faculty member Sybil Cooksey, will include Maxine Gordon and scholars Brent Edwards (Columbia), C. Daniel Dawson (Columbia).
