The Big Walk 2021: Governors Island

This event is FULL.  Thank you for your interest!

Saturday, September 18, 10:30 am-3 pm EDT
Soissons Landing, Governors Island

Calling all urban enthusiasts: join us for Gallatin’s tenth annual BIG WALK! A signature Gallatin event, the annual BIG WALK brings together all parts of our academic community as we “walk and talk” about the city. For this year’s walk, Louise Harpman will lead the group in exploring Governors Island, 172 acre island in the heart of New York Harbor. Our walk includes dedicated checkpoints to learn about the island’s history, current uses, and proposed futures. Featured guest speakers from Gallatin include Karen Holmberg, Eugenia Kisin, and KC Trommer. Highlights along the route include the Urban Assembly Harbor School, the New York Virtual Volcano Observatory, the Gallatin WetLab, two historic forts, and acres of rolling hills.

The Big Walk is open to members of the NYU community, and registration is required. All individuals must show the Daily Screener green pass screen prior to start of the walk.

See here for the full Big Walk website!
