Friday, 10/22
5 - 6:30 pm ET, Interdisciplinary Approaches to Climate and Climate Change

Join us for the inaugural Gallatin Alumni & Parents Weekend Roundtable, which this year features Gallatin faculty, students, and alumni who discuss interdisciplinary approaches to climate and climate change. Each speaker will give brief remarks followed by an open conversation.

9:30 - 10:30 am ET, Gallatin Parents & Families Welcome  

Please join us for a morning Welcome program, designed specifically for the Gallatin parent & family community on Saturday, October 23, as part of the virtual 2021 NYU Alumni and Parents Weekend. This informative session features remarks from Gallatin Dean Susanne Wofford; discusses the student experience; provides insights from faculty, student, and alumni speakers; and answers parent & family questions.

1 - 2 pm ET, The Life Cycle of a Gallatin Student

Join Gallatin's Office of Advising to learn more about how Gallatin students progress through the program and the significant milestones they will meet along the way. We will discuss the highlights and challenges of each year (first year, sophomore, junior, and senior) and provide insights into how parents and families can support students as they develop their individualized concentrations.

12 - 1 pm ET, Gallatin Grads & Job Seekers: Alumni Career Services

Whether you are a recent graduate, a mid-career alum, or always on the lookout for professional development opportunities, this session is for you! There are many career resources and services that are available to all NYU alumni and are impactful for navigating an interdisciplinary job search. You will meet a career coach from the Wasserman Center and participate in a live demonstration of how to use Handshake (formerly CareerNet), the NYU Violet Network, and more.

12 - 1 pm ET, Gallatin Celebrates NYU Alumni Changemakers

Join Dean Susanne L. Wofford to celebrate Gallatin alumni and winners of the 2021 NYU Alumni Changemakers Award Ellen Kurz (BA '80) and Frank Leon Roberts (BA '04). In this session, you will hear from Kurz and Leon Roberts, learn about their professional work, including iVote and the Black Lives Matter Syllabus, how Gallatin influenced their various pathways, and more.

2-3 pm ET, Conversations with Gallatin Faculty feat. Louise Harpman

Join Gallatin Professor Louise Harpman in conversation with former advisees and now alumni on the topic, "Why Design Matters". Inspired by the popular podcast of the same name, panelists will share their perspectives based on their experiences and professional pathways post-Gallatin, and reflect on the work of designers and why it matters.

3:30 - 4:30 pm ET, Conversations with Gallatin Faculty feat. George Shulman

Join Gallatin Professor George Shulman in conversation with former advisees and now alumni on the topic, "Truth and Narrative in Politics". Panelists will share their perspectives based on their experiences and professional pathways post-Gallatin, and reflect on themes such as narrative-making, disinformation, self-interest, and the public good.
